Good Day, my question is when dose the second [house battery] charge ? I've had the 2001 eurovan plugged in to shore power for 2 days and on the panel it still shows 1 red dot for the battery condition . Must the van be running ? To be charged ? THanks for your help. |

Is this for a EV Camper or a EV weekender second battery? _________________ .ssS! |

The EVC shouldn't need the engine running, to charge the battery, shore power should do fine. (On our 97, the engine charger didn't work when we got it - the relay connecting the aux battery to the engine alternator had quit before we got it! So we could only charge by shore power, until we replaced the relay.)
You might try directly hooking the battery up to a plug-in charger, see if that works any better.
If you can take a look at the battery voltage directly with a DVM, as it's charging and disconnected, that might tell you something also. (We put an ammeter on ours, just so I could monitor it... But that's excessively compulsive.) |

Hello, I'm still trying to figure out why the house battery is not charging. so I put a volt meter on the battery with the shore power plugged in . It was plugged in for days.[ cold beer]. The meter read 8.4 volts. I unplugged the shore power and the meter read 5.4. So I took the battery out and put a charger on it and the next morning the meter read 13.4. I then unhooked the charger. The next day today I check the battery and it read 10,4 Bad battery ?. So the I plug the shore power in and hooker the volt meter to the battery wires and got a 11.8 reading . I also started the van with the shore power unplugged and the meter on the wires got no reading on the meter. Sorry for the long story but if anyone can under stand me and can help me under stand it it would be greatly appreciated thanks |

If it sat at below 12 volts for any amount of time it is dead. Probably the shore power charger is faulty _________________ .ssS! |
