I'm getting ready to assemble the nose after paint and figured I'd finally see what's inside this tube behind the grill before I button everything up.
Here it is... Heater Tube Stuffing.
Seems to be about a large paper grocery bag, volume wise. One part t-shirt rags, one part finely pulled fiberglass insulation and one part small black granules. Activated carbon maybe? Mine don't smell fresh anymore though.
GoWesty, Vanagain, BusDepot, VanCafe... nope. NLA? Bentley doesn't mention it so I figure its safe to run without.
The wife is not interested so shared here. Thanks peeps. _________________ 1966 Sportsmobile Camper https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=...mp;start=0

That stuff is made of unobtanium; a rare and precious element, the world supply has been cornered by the tinfoil hat making industry. _________________ Steve |

At least you didn't find the former resident...
I screamed like a little girl when I got my hands on that. |

You'll probably have to go directly to Volkswagen Classic Parts in the Vaterland for that: https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/ersatzteile/bus-transporter.html
Last time I checked, it was available only in 50kg sacks, so maybe a group buy is in order?
You're looking for "Mauskonfettischeissenestisolierung". Sorry, I don't have a part number.
If I'd known you needed some, I could have sent you some of mine, which some misguided PO stuffed inside a diesel muffler!
