Anyone else having trouble ordering a certificate from Stiftung? The website says it's currently not available.

... oh, I ceased requesting certificates, when they began charging for them - used to be free in the 70s, 80s and early 90s

Why should they be free? It takes work to pull the data and create the certificate. From what I understand the records are all on microfiche so it's not like they just type in your info into a computer and hit print.

What photos did they come with?
I have never seen that.

In my case, in 1979, they came with about a dozen generic photos of Beetles/Bugs from different years, often seen in previous VW advertising & promotional literature, plus a 70 page booklet, titled ' A Brief Illustrated History', all of which I still have to this day. It was a time when VW valued those who were interested in the marque, it's history, and those keeping the old vehicles alive. Sadly, largely no longer the case, other than occasional, distant PR.

That is very interesting confirmation Martin, and makes sense; though however sad that is no longer the situation. Crying or Very sad
aa390392, is that what you were referring to as well? Idea Question

Yes it contained about 4 generic B&W pics + info on my 1953 standard, the year was 1974/74., inclusive to me knowing Franz Hermann from Azusa who worked for VW he got me all NOS parts.from What I recall they were affordable for the time.

WOW, those were the days. Idea
Very good that your 'connection' at VW helped you to acquire the requisite parts (standard = holy grail of Vintage VW pats) Exclamation
-And at a decent price for then. Cool (Now even more-so). Wink

Still, I need that info. Numbers matching to us means little but it can add significantly to the value for collectors.
