Thanks for adding me to TheSamba its been 42 years sense I last owned a Dune Buggy. I recently purchased an early Myers Manx body & a parts pile, which includes a running motor & trans with a rear IRS frame section. BUT there was no pan or front suspension. I have available to me a 73 super beetle with a solid pan, the question is can it be converted to the early axle beam by replacing the head frame or is there other options for the super beetle pan in a buggy build ???

You can buy a new frame/pan from Berrien Buggy that would solve the problem.

You can buy a frame head for linkpin or ball joint front beam.

Getting a title for the chassis could be a problem.

The steel in the Super Beetle chassis frame head is actually heavier gauge than a standard beetle so it can actually be made stronger that stock with a correctly welded on torsion beam frame head.

What state are you in?
