|
|
Here is my story:
So my late model (ACW?) tranny has been showing signs on hard to get out of gear. I've hear many say "Yep, 3-4 slider is gone" ...
Howdever, this also happens getting out of second so I assume the 1-2 slider as well.
Shifting otherwise is very nice, adjusted well and new shifter bushings front to back for the last year or so.
Bottom line, is there anything else adjustment wise that could cause such a thing aside from needing a rebuild ?
My understanding is that this tranny was supposed to be factory fixed to not have the 3-4 slider issue but I've never opened it up ( because I don't know what I'm doing, lol ). However, also for 1-2 ? This tells me maybe its worn out. I have no history on this one.
I run Mobil 1 Synthetic 80w90, 2nd gear has a little crunch engaging in the cold which I assume is a worn synchro.
Anything else I should check adjustment wise before I start speeding up raising funds ?
My want to convert to 1.8t and flipped tranny is fighting with my body NOT wanting to do the conversion work ! _________________ John.

Could be slave cylinder. Climb under van drivers side. Check for moisture, have someone depress clutch and verify movement. Could be leaking or have air. Good luck. |

i'm with Ahmed at this point.... clutch isn't releasing fully.
try this... be in the gear hard to shift out of and then gradually let off the gas to perfectly match engine speed with the van coasting. then pull it out of gear, don't even need the clutch but push it anyway. if it is easy to shift, you have clutch issues. the key is to match unloaded engine RPM with what would be normal RPM to maintain speed. when the engine is NOT trying to speed up the van or in 'engine braking' mode, it should easily pull out of gear whether your clutch is engaged or not.
if STILL hard to pull out of gear, you have trans issues. _________________ -dan
