Can anyone help with information on mirrors?

Are they all the same From 50>55 on all models
why some have 2 and some only have 1?
Is there a captive nut in the back of the screen or is it in the A post?

Thanks

there are at least 2 different styles, ones that go up and ones that go down. I am sure there are plenty of pictures in the gallery.

rearview mirrors were not a requirement in the early 50s. Some cars had none, (my beetle for example only had the inside mirror), many had one, and the 2nd mirror was definitely optional.

It's inside the A-pillar.

There are some pics on page 2 of this thread

Yes, I think the passenger side was always an option

Hey Sam. Glad to see you are still working on her. You need a 53-55 downward drivers side mirror. A passenger side is up to you. Optional.
Hayburner sell them.
Good luck dude.

Thanks very much for your help chaps.

I’m going to go both sides as I will be sad if I cut a corner and trash the side because I don’t have a Mirror Embarassed

It’s been a while bud but gotta keep pushing her in the right direction. Yours is looking dreamy, I’m soooo far behind Rolling Eyes
