So this might be obvious, but a gear reduction starter is going to turn slower when starting correct? Just installed my Suby Conversion and also threw in a hi torque starter, sounds so different than my 1.9 starting.

The armature in a gear reduction starter turns much faster than the armature in a direct drive starter, but the output shaft speeds are similar.

Not all gear reduction starters are the same - the IMI turns way slower than the TDI starter and also has less torque.
