How many squarebacks had factory AC--just curious? I bought car from original owner and has AC and factory radio in the middle of AC vents. Very Happy

I would say zero.

Distributors/or dealers installed A/C, not the factory. The kits came from the factory, I think, but the installation was left to others.

Correct on no factory A/C. However, the kits were produced in USA by APA and Mitchell, and then packaged/ sold as accessory kits by VWoA.

Incidentally, the same two companies produced "authorized" A/C systems for Porsche, MB and Volvo as well.

Pretty sure this is later T3. Not period correct for the 63 but it should fit.

They fit under the dash of early models, I guess to hide the fresh air box drain hoses.
