I have two wires I need assistance with on my 1976 Superbeetle Fuelie. They are located near the starter. They have clip connectors. One short and one fairly long(both black). The longer one seems to go to the engine bay because the sleeve looks like it received some over spray when it was repainted. They are both a small gauge wire. Im not sure if the short gets connected to the starter. Here are some photos for some attention. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Track 52 and 53 are your reverse light circuits. The circuit starts from the ignition coil #15 (+) terminal. Fuse S21 is located just after the wire leaves the ignition coil.
This black wire enters a black sleeve that exits the engine compartment on the front side of the fan shroud thru a hole in the firewall tin. The wire runs to the front end of the trans where the reverse light switch is located. The return wire is also a black wire. It returns thru the same sleeve to the engine compartment where it splits into two wires (left and right) that run to the taillight housings. They mate up with the blue wires from the taillight assemblies that power the reverse lights.
