Anybody have a white Thing with a white convertible top?
If you have pictures I'd love to see how it looks. There's lots of examples of one's with black tops out there but I'm not finding white ones.
Thanks |

Weird, my first thought while picturing it in my head was, "Who would ever do that?" But after seeing the photos I'm wondering who wouldn't. _________________ 65 Beetle

It's growing on me too! Maybe as I'm aging I'm loosing my better judgement... like wearing white socks with sandals and pants with elastic waistbands.
Now I'm thinking maybe a white bikini top.
Thanks for the pictures! |

When I was a young lad my boss sent me on an errand to pick up some equipment. When I got the the shop where I was supposed to make the pickup, I was met by an older gentleman. White thinning hair, double chin, dressed in short-sleeved, short legged powder blue coveralls with a zip up the front and an integrated elastic waistband - the kind with the interlocking double loop fastener. Combine this with white socks, black Oxfords, and legs that had obviously never seen the sun. It was comical. I remember thinking back then "I guess when you get to that age you don't have to care." And here I am. That age, and exerting my old-guy privilege by not caring. It's not your better judgement that you've lost. It's the vanity of youth!
In the second photo that FJBLF linked to - the one that is sales literature - I like that the white top on the white thing isn't a stark white. It's a really light gray and there's just the slightest contrast between the body and the top. Nice.

Remember However, that Starting in '73 and to end of the model all tops were black. The bumper color also changed to all black in '73 so if you are a purist, and your car is a '73 or Younger your top was black out of the factory. _________________ 1972 VW 181 SAFARI 1500 cc GRB Trans-axle |

Ride that light gray on the Arizona sun some years, and you end up with an almost white top. Just like the "Cream White" paint is a couple of shades lighter than when it came off the factory.
Here you have another couple of pics from mine.

Thanks for sharing those pictures! I've always liked the flat tail lamps that are placed lower like that. I'm not convinced about the body color bumpers yet, but I'm sure I'll eventually end up loving them that way. Are tail lamps and bumpers like that typical of a Safari? |
