Picked this up recently at an antique shop in Tennessee. Unopened. Hard to find any information on it.

Die Blechtrommel seems to be a toy shop in Germany. I could not find a website but the adress may have changed to Theaterstr. 11, 76829 Landau.
In Germany, five digit post codes were introduced in 1993, so the toy can not be older than that.

The car reminds me of the HUKI 411 http://www.piccolegrandiruote.com/1968-50-anni-volkswagen-411/

From what I can find, it was made in 1993. Here’s a little more info.

I agree with Jo.R. It's a Huki 411.

Here's one built. It looks like old factory or warehouse stock. Still an unusual find.
