The 356 wheels look like 66-67 type 1 wheels because they are slotted in a similar way. You cam get all sorts of reprise these days in different widths.
Stock wheels look better.

There are at least 3 different kinds of 15" slotted steel wheels:
1.356 wheels
2. 66-67 type 1 wheels
3. Brazil "Mangels" chrome wheels I think came in 2 different widths maybe 15x 5" and 15x 6"
Kinda think there may be some new alloy versions out now (Italian?)
Also, there existed some Spyder and Carrera wheels with alloy rims and steel centers. Yes, they are expensive. Maybe $2000 each.
If anyone knows more about slots, rim width, fitment/ offset and so on, I would like to know as well.
1966-67 Type 1 wheels are the unloved stepchild right now. But I think the offset is not right for a bus?

The type one wheels also took flat caps. The Brazilian repros have clips for domed caps.

Hi

My ''64 Crew cab with 1990's Mangel 15X6 repro 356 wheels. Sandblasted the Brazilian chrome and power coated White. Able to run 205-60-15 wheels front and back. Offset works and and handling is great, for a bus.

Bus suspension isnt' stock... Rear has, straight type 3 axles, and 356B brakes. Front uses a Wagons West Narrowed, adjustable beam with Airkewled disk brakes.

My only headache has been finding a front sway bar.

Scott

Super cool, 52 with 16" porsche rims, that was way... different at the time and still is a memorable bus.
