Ahhhhhhhhh! Cant I do both? I just want to work on my bus until it's nice and then sell it so I dont destroy it someday when driving it. Is that cool? |
Fab-solutely. If you like it , though, expect to keep it forever. Selling it would just be for cash, which is easily gotten other ways
Enjoy it in the dry, and share pix! _________________ .ssS! |

Awesome find. I'd think about what makes you happy and just do it. This forum is full of free advice so its worth what your paying to get it. If you run across crappy (negative) here, just ignore it. I for one am very appreciative of what you've posted so far. _________________ 1982 Vanagon Westy

Finally found some time to work on the brakes. The wax is still present on the speedometer cable.
It's so clean in the wheel wells.
Date coded brake pads? The bus is a 9 of 70 manufacture. Calipers and hoses are from wolfsburg west.
The only brake lines with corrosion were the short "S" shape ones on the front. Luckily I found a pair in the classifieds that are supposedly new old stock. There are no markings, tags, or bags included but the fittings were an exact match and the fit was perfect.
Thanks for the encouragement and advice. _________________ 1971 Chianti Red Westfalia x2

Of course you can do both. But selling usually implies optimizing profit, which is covered by skills' tough love above.
No, its not appreciating in value, btw.
I would drive it, maintain it. and enjoy it until end of days.
See you out there. _________________ .ssS! |

Dang! That’s a real sweet find there. I am on the it’s your bus and you do what you want camp. Personally I would repair what needs repairing and drive it. I don’t enjoy looking at cars as much as using them. But I guess I’ve never had a 2700 mile bus before either?? Prob never will because I don’t ever look for them, I think making your decision would drive me nuts, so I stay away from that type of car. All that said, nice find and good luck. _________________ Life is short, enjoy the ride...in a VW

I love this Bus. Probably my favorite one on here. I think you’re doing it right. Drive your other sweet Bus and keep this one undercover and miles low while making it road worthy in the most original way.
I think this one appreciates in value given the extreme low miles. Just not going to find another like this.
Keep the posts up on progress. It’s amazing. _________________ 71 Westy 1600 DP, all stock Bus 1

Life and other buses/vanagons have got in the way of progressing on this one... Finally back on it for a while so we can get it listed.
Someone smeared wax all over it at one point in time, so I've been going in and trying to get all that removed while doing some buffing and hand polishing.
I love this little plastic cover on the latch.
It's so shiny under here with just a little polish.
