I was told to post here. I want to know if anyone knows what these are? I'm assuming they are VW related as my Dad was a VW mechanic from the 60's-90's. He did specialize in the transmissions, maybe some sort of shims to set them up? I have bags of different sizes of these items also.

Valve shims for early water cooled, solid lifter, vw heads.

Actually they appear to be standards for checking your micrometers.

Why would you need twelve of each, in steps of five thousandths?
