Like bugformance in Sac, is there something similar in San Jose or other Bay Area locations? The San Jose bugformance seems to have shut down.

Thanks!
Byas

I can vouch for Peninsula Automotive.

Pretty wild there’s so few shops left, eh?

Especially when you look at pictures of the streets around Berekley in the 60s/early 70s. VWs everywhere. A couple that I have seen showed over 50% of all cars in the pictures were Dubs.

I grew up there then, and yep, many of the cars were VWs (not 50%, but I get your drift). Parents of classmates had various Peugeot 403s and 404s, Simcas, Renaults (a friend's family had a Dauphine!). My next door neighbor drove a (English) Ford Prefect. Even my goofy Mother had a couple of Westys and a '69 Beetle (as a daily driver) during her life.

Up until the late 70's we had plenty of shops to buy parts from: RVEECO, Small Car World, Mekatron and two decent foreign auto parts stores. One in Albany sold nothing but Volvo parts. There was a wrecking yard that let me rifle through boxes of VW parts until I found the pop-out window latches that I needed for my '64.
