Before and after of the cladding removed! When planning to do this I could not find any good before and after. So glad I took it off! Now to weld the holes...

Well..... with the clunky bumpers, it looks like a newer Van that someone took the cladding off of.........

Didn’t many fiberglass bumper vans like this come w/out cladding? My ‘90 Westy camper had clunky fiberglass bumpers plus only the cladding on the front door. Now it inexplicably has RMW bumpers and truly misplaced front door cladding (due to my laziness in not removing it for two years).

IanNJ, thanks for the pics and for continuing the battle against needless plastic crap (just make sure to save it in case you want to return the needless plastic crap to your van since it can look good on the right van in the right circumstances).

I prefer the look with the needless plastic crap myself.

To each his own.

Send me a PM if you wanna sell the tiny piece of cladding that goes below the gas filler cap. Mine is cracked. Smile

I never liked that cladding even when these things were new. Mine's covering some bodywork, but someday will be coming off.

And the late vans did come with "clunky" bumpers and only the front door cladding. The Carats and Multivans got the full cladding.

My '88 GL just had the front and rear bumpers, and I always thought it looked naked and weird without the mid section to carry on the treatment along the entire perimeter.

Why X 2 ?

You're taking a desirable Upgraded van and turning it in to a mundane people mover.

I like it. It is YOUR bus. You can do what you want.

BTW you can also remove the A/C if you want to hear more screaming....

^^^ This.

Aside, I love it without the cladding. Less is always more.

Removing a major comfort feature like A/C is straight up foolish, but removing an aesthetic enhancement is merely misguided.

So the next question is what color paint should be used?? I am thinking either a white with a tint of light blue or dark gray.

The GoWesty lift/black wheels go on this week. Roof rack. Front/back bumpers including grill done in bed liner. Full tint next week.

Do you (or anyone else) have more photos of the aftermarket bumper with door cladding?
I have the FB bumpers but recently acquired some custom steel bumpers. I want to consider leaving the door cladding on instead of worrying about filling the holes.
Thx

I like it too, but I'm a little biased, as mine is the same. Paint 'em black and don't look back...

Looks good. I’m a fan of the cladding but it’s all personal preference, I’d be interesting in buying the land drivers side piece and the small piece behind the sliding door. Very Happy
