I have a 30 pict 2 that runs but needs replacing due to leaky shaft etc.
My distributor is a Brazilian 009 that I'm reusing as I have a lot of other stuff to sort out on this car and cannot focus on changing both carb and dist at the same time.
I've done lots of research and see the H30/31 or the 30 pict 1 with power circuit plays best with the 009 so it's gonna be one of these but I'm leaning more towards the H30/31 because of the larger venturi and should be better suited for my stock 1600DP.
Opinions? |

I run a 30/31 PICT (that I rebuilt myself as a precaution since wan't used for a decade) on a stock dual port manifold on the 1600cc DP engine I rebuilt 1.5 years ago. I use a vintage German 009 with it too. Runs good. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. You could re bush the 30 pict 2, either buying replacement bushes or standard fitting metric engineering bushings.
Neither of the carburettors you have are really ideal for a 1600DP. But then with an 009 as well you arent getting the most from it either so I suppose it doesnt matter .. _________________ Ancient vehicles and vessels

Just do yourself a favor and runt he H30/31. Flexible carb actually. Running that on my stock single port 1600cc with a Bosch 205 M vacuum distributor. Ya the 009 will work as long as it is a good German one. Another option is to send the carb to Tim Volkzbiz and when it is returned to you it will be as good as or better then New Old Stock =NOS. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

Whatever carb I decide on I will be getting it from Tim.
Even if I go the H30/31 personally I feel one from him will be better because of the upgraded bronze throttle shaft bushes....don't know what the new ones come with tho.
Not too keen re-using the 30 pict 2 because of the know issues. |
