My Winnebago 21B is built using a Eurovan cab, engine and automatic transmission.
Winnebago say's that I can tow 2800 lbs. Winnebago is incorrect.
I need to tow an 1800 lb VW Beetle, but need a bit more power.
Are there any mods that I can do to accomplish that?
I am not looking for engine swaps or the like.
I would like to tweak the current engine to it's maximum potential.
I have already put a heavy duty valve body in the transmission and changed the plugs and filters.
Thanks for looking and please let me know any ideas that may come to you. |

I know that the '95 and later ECUs can be tuned. However, I've not personally seen anyone post on tuning an ECU on an 01-03 van. _________________ - Bill, '93 Eurovan Syncro Weekender (2.5 manual ACU) |

There are cams you can install to increase power, but other than that and a possible ECU chip upgrade, the only other things I can think of are headers or a turbo kit. _________________ Casey--

Any power enhancements are going to overstress an already overworked automatic transmission. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

In 2002, the Rialta/Eurovan VR6 HP went from 140 to about 200 hp and 177 to 181 ft lbs torque by going to 24 valves, variable valve timing and other tweaks. Not much room left for more without adding a Turbo. _________________ Rich |

Techtonics sells a super expensive set of cams which they claim provide a 23hp--16ft/lbs boost in performance. _________________ Casey--
