For ideas, look at Burro Buggies - simple and rugged and also the Berrian tube frames.

Soon as I can get my bender bolted down I want to build a SWB frame like a UTV but it will be pretty much square, I have a 8" over front beam I am going to use and a set of old used 3x3 rear trailing arms for it and it will have a pretty much stock 1600SP and trans, I figure the WB to be about a foot longer then it is wide. I don't plan for it to be a speed demon, just something to tulle around in the desert with and check the mail.

Ensure that you are comfortable getting in and out as well, that is where the UTVs and Burros shine - easy access.

If you look at it long enough you can probably figure it out. Im making the arms to utilize the aluminum bearing knuckles. Dom tube. Using the stock cv axles. Should have my tubing bender in a few days so i can start on the lower rail and arms.

Nice thing about a 8.8 is limitedslip diffs are a dime a dozen at the wrecking yards in Mustangs.
If I was going to do some thing like that I would use a R200 rear diff out of a Z car, I had a couple floating around until I moved.

Made some more headway on the arms. Had to order the bushings for the torsion. Just got them yesterday. Alot of time invested. Not an easy task. Its going to work out well. Sbf and a toploader manual trans. Should be fun. It has a good usable 10" travel in the rear.

Update. Been some time since the last one. Tubing bender finally showed up. Also got my lite weight spindles finished welded. These where custom made by ORA to my specs. Bent up the lower chassis rail. Starting to look like something. Using race trim seats.

Looks like this could be one heck of a buggy. Looking forward to following this. Nice to see another Michigan buggy around. Wink

The spindles where custom made to my liking from Off Road Anonymous. Off road and fab shop out of traverse city Michigan. Chris is the guy you need to talk with. They have a Facebook page as well. I wanted a custom spindle closer to design of a mazzone and not a long travel. He designed and cut them. I welded them up. 3.5lbs each.
