I picked up this neat little sign years ago. I have never actually seen one on a bug and I'm wondering where/how it should mounted on the vehicle. It is smaller than a standard sized license plate at about 5" x 8 3/4" . It is about a 1/4"thick and is aluminum I believe. Someone drilled two mounting holes at the top left and right. Since the sign says PASSED by a 36hp, you would have to assume it would go in the rear of the car. Anyone have any pics of one of these on a bug or have any thoughts on the best place to display this?

Nice find! They used to sell those in the Whitney catalog.

That's one of those things that would be pure improvisation. Back then they had no worries about drilling holes in things.

Were it me, I'd either mount it on the bumper, or hang it under the bumper. It could be wired or clamped.

Very cool to have an original. Over the past couple of years, there have been various folks repopping them, trying to pass them off as originals, and asking big money for them. Rolling Eyes

There was a guy not too long ago selling repops for almost $50 on ebay.

I used 1.5"X4.0" aluminum angle stock to mount a Volks Rods plaque to my bumper.
