I bought a Thing jack clamp from the Thing Shop. I have a Stamped steel squareish jack with a hand crank on it that came with the 74 Thing when I bought it.
I don't know if the jack is oe equipment or not, but I can't get it to fit in the vw jack holder in the wheel well.
A picture of how they install would help a lot.
Thanks, Phil |

Photos and description are taken from various Thing manuals.
This is what a stock Thing jack looks like:
Hope that helps . . . |

Thanks so much for that post. I now know I don't have an oe Thing jack and that's the root of my troubles in the install! |

Figured that, let's see a photo of the jack that you have. _________________ Supposed to be 77käfer, but there are no umlauts on an american keyboard

I have my original jack in the place it belongs, but when I used it last year, the weight of the car after 10 minutes, cracked the pan. I now use a floor jack if I have to work under the Thing. Be very careful with this. |

This is the jack I got with the Thing. I have since purchased the Thing jack I found in the Thing parts section. Thanks everyone.
