The rear seat is definitely original, but I doupt the fronts are later. Early front seat should have this "cut bar" which is made to get more space rear passengers feet.

That's weird! Do you know when that changed? Everything seemed to be consistent as far as condition, padding, material used, etc., and I would not have suspected anything was changed out. _________________ David S |

Okay, great! Good news... Cause I wasn't very exited about hacking this bar out...
Only the front seats are done now but I'll follow up when there's a little more progress on the interior. _________________ David S |

The original speedo pod isn't finished yet, but for now I've installed a later one here so I could start testing things out...
Here's where I'm at on the popes nose... I ended using a later NOS lens as it seemed most pics showed a moulded lip. I'm still not sure on that? A good friend of mine gave me a hand and we probably spent an hour wondering around the hardware store looking for anything that could help. In the end we got five rivets smashed without damaging anything. Just waiting on a red inner lens from K/N.
Lights are starting to come back.
Then started on the carpet and got the front area just about done...
First test drive!!

Thanks Guys!
Here are some pics of the interior coming together... This is at Chris's shop, VIP European Interior, working on the front seats.
Front seats done and back at my place. I cut and fit the door panels here. Then took the car down to VIP to check fit of the rear seat and finish the door panels...
Before covering the panels, Chris had me glue fabric to hold the clips in place...
With the panels done, the rear seat was fit and covered.
It's getting there...

Wonderful! Wish I could give my split in your hands...
Have you already "contended" with the door window mechanism and rails? For me it is always the most worse work on split beetles, it's easier to do an engine overhaule... |

Yeah, this part was a pain and something I hadn't done in a while. I started a couple times, but wasn't happy with some of the parts I had. It also turned out the sashes weren't correct and I was waiting on a pair I ordered from Jacek at ww2vw. I ended up using W.W.'s pre '53 hood seal for the scrapers and Jim had already supplied the channel felt and rubber from Ricardo which worked well. I didn't take many pics of the progress, but here's a couple almost finished.
I also got the original speedo pod back from John and installed. Looks great!!
Jim supplied a Bosch battery that came dry. I filled it with some battery acid I got from Napa, charged and ready to go.
The car is getting close to being done. Another late day test drive after sorting out some issues...
