OK gang, I'm looking for suggestions.
I've had this problem occur three times this summer around the 100 mile mark into a trip.
The car acts like it is running out of gas when the tank is still half full and the level is above the top of the intake screen. When I removed the gas cap to check the level and put it back on the car runs fine.
What could be the problem? |

blocked vent in the cap? when you open the cap you let air in so the 'problem' goes away until next time _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Like "finster" said, could be blocked vent in the cap.
Here is a vented stock cap : gas fumes go in (see red arrows) and come out through the openings along the edge (see green arrow).
Regards.

Thanks for the photograph. I was wondering how the cap was designed to vent. |
