Reassembling a 1965 So42 for a friend, need a few details answered.

Front interior door handles, chrome or silver/white plastic?
Inner cargo door handles, chrome or silver/whilte plastic?

Wiper arms, early small base, or late long base?
Wiper base black or silver?

He supplied both chrome and plastic handles and black and silver wipers, since I didn't take the camper apart and primarily restore deluxes.....I just want to make sure it's detail correct.

Thanks for the help.

FWIW- my '65 SO-42 has a very original set of most things. The handles are all silver/white but one wiper (passenger) was black with a short base.

My thinking (until Lind gets on here and corrects me) is that perhaps buses with black vent wing handles (as mine has) had black wipers- again, speculation. And that a clue about plastic cargo handle (hence all handles) color might always match the little lock switch? The cargo lock switch usually stays with the mechanism longer than the handle that is more easily worn out and swapped.

Side note- I admire your troubles- usually only working on deluxes. That must be lame. Wink

Handles = plastic
Wipers... I don't know color.
Part no. 211955407A for silver.
Parts list calls them out as '65-'67... but I know the bases got pretty long sometime in '67.
Here's a pic of an NOS one: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/pix/6616458.jpg

It's worth perusing the "65 Survivor Westy" thread.

and here's a couple '65 images... click 2x to enlarge to max:

Excellent tip Easy- bringing up the original westy thread. I had forgotten how much of an SO-42 reference that thread provides. Smile

All interior door handles are white, not chrome.

camper door handles are the early style.

SO42's were based on Kombi's so I assume they would have black wiper arms. Mine did.
