Hey guys
I want to repaint my rims and was wondering how I would get a can of Turkis??
Is there a paint formula somewhere I can take to my local paint store?
Thanks _________________ 1968 type 1 (green goblin) sun roof

Code is L380. If you have anything on your car with OG paint you can take that piece in with the code and they can usually color match it. They should also have this kit:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Preval-Sprayer-2-Pack-0225/203826736
There are also some places online that will make spray cans of what you want. Google search will turn it up I believe.
Understand this isn’t a cheap option. By the time you pay for the paint, reducer (hardener if you choose) and the kit will probably be close to $100 or so. At least it’s what it ends up running here when I get a quart of paint. _________________ 1960 Indigo Blue Ragtop (Blue Barry)

Try automotivetouchup, I've used them to match up paint on my early VW's and porches with great sucess.
They list Turkis and they do from touch up, aerosol and liters

But seriously, if you’re looking for cheap, close-ish match...

that cracked me up once I realized what it was. Nice one.
And damn that Krylon might be the answer for now. I have 2 black rims in the front and stock color in back and I’m not affording a full paint job for a while so this will keep my sanity in check for now. Branston I checked on that suggestion you had and that’s some nice stuff and a great web site. I may just go with that too if I can get some OT right now. Thanks guys , happy holidays _________________ 1968 type 1 (green goblin) sun roof

That’s a cool site Branston!
Another option if they are near is Industrial Finishes. They’ll make a spray bomb for around 20-30 bucks. They can match, or the one near me had the 50-60 year old codes. _________________ Plate of shrimp |

my local auto body supply will match and load in a spray can for about $20
Ned's auto body over in Concord or Pittsburgh is probably a good bet. If you happen to be in Sacramento, Jerry's paint does a great job matching and loading in spray cans. _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

But plan on painting all four rims- There's no L380 turkis used on a stock rim of a turkis beetle. _________________

Yeah I know Turkis isn’t the original rim color but my back rims are already that color . Until I can do a full restore I’m just making look better than black rims in front and Turkis in back. _________________ 1968 type 1 (green goblin) sun roof

Take the Turkis rim from the one rear axle and put it on the other side of the car in front. That way, one side of the car has matching rim colors. Then paint up the other two black rims and put them on the other side of the car, front and rear. You can't see both sides of the car at once to notice the slight mismatch of rim colors. |

I saw canned tukeys on sale last week at Lucky Grocery, they also had canned cranberry and pumpkin pie filling for their post-Thanksgiving sale.
Bug On!
PS... my 61 Bug is Turkis, with the color matched interior. Dad bought it new, I have had it for 40 years. I like the color, even had a 63 bus that color once. _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

What’s NOT hard to make out is that someone peed all over the floor before you took that pic, hitest.
Gross.

OP, you can save a lot of work if you are just going for a quick fix. Here is a thread from the paint forums about close Krylon/Rustoleum matches to old VW factory colors. Numerous matches for Turkis. You can get very close! Here you go...

If you can get Prince Albert in a can , shouldn't you be able to get a Turk in a can? _________________ "Albatross"! |
