|
|
Still havent split the case, but I have bearing damage. But will also be replacing cam and lifters. This is a relatively stock engine 1600 SP H30/31 and a proper vac only distributor (I dont remember the model number, but it's a large can and had worked well in this car. Stock exhaust. 67 bug. This is a customer car BTW and I have a couple questions.
If I need a crank, CIP1 has stock ones - any feedback on them?
Pondering a cam upgrade since I will be replacing it and the lifters. Is there anything suggested that might give a mild performance boost particulalry low and mid range?
Thanks in advance. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

For stock size and a 30/31 maybe a cheater cam. Nothing more IMO. I like street engines to actually idle though. |

With stock single port heads I would stay stock all the way on the internals. Use 1.25:1 ratio rockers for a little more umph _________________ Volkswagen!

more specifics would be helpful. As in particular model and brand. Like an Engle W100 or 110? Want a smooth idle and just more low and mid. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

The suggestions above or Web 86, Scat 20, maybe the Engle 100. No on the 110.
Definitely want to keep it mild. |

+1 on the CB 2280, I have that cam in two engines and really like it. One's a 1600DP with a CW crank, otherwise stock. The other is a 1904 with a 34Pict in a bus, runs great. Smooth idle like stock but noticeably more low end torque. With the CW crank it winds out better even though duration is not longer, IIRC similar to a stock cam in duration but .100" more lift.
Do that cam and a CW crank for a very nice stockish engine. I've used several of CB's CW cranks and all came out great.
Both of mine have stock mufflers with the baffles torched out, from inside the bus you can't hear any difference in exhaust note. _________________ '66 Deluxe Bus
