Oil Pressure Relief Valve Leak

It seems i have a leak coming from here. Is this common?
Should i just replace the washer or spring too?

Any chance the oil is leaking from above and running down the engine to that point?
If it’s really the plug or cap leaking on you, you’ll need a new aluminum crush washer on hand to seal it up. I have seen people add a dab of sealant to the threads of the cap, but generally the washer does a good job of sealing it up as designed if parts are clean and flat/not damaged.

There is a spec for the spring length in the Bentley Manual, I think it’s 62mm , but look it up. If your piston/valve looks good, not binding in the bore of the engine where it lives, and your spring is not short in length, you might be great and just need to clean the parts before reinstalling.

If however the spring and piston aren’t okay, several VW parts suppliers/vendors sell stock and aftermarket kits of the spring and piston along with a new sealing washer.
