After watching some clips from the tv show "Real People" that I watched as a kid, I noticed they have a flat earth episode. Anybody else remember this show?

New social program
Register flat earthers, give them a 20x30 cinder block ranch house in Flat Earthia suburb, and all the pot they want.
This minimizes damage to the rest of society. _________________ .ssS! |

Between the coronavirus and the recent protests, it is pushing the flat earthers to the edge. _________________ Oprn wrote: I'm getting to the age that any self propelled woman (no wheel chair or walker) looks HOT!! I'm gonna go deep here, so don't say I didn't warn you!
The Flat Earthers are right (just not in the way they think they are).
There is no such thing as a circle or a sphere. We just use words like "circle" and "sphere" to cover up the inconvenient truth that our puny brains can't count to infinity. In fact, our brains can't count much higher than "4", unless you make a conscious effort to do so. Don't believe me? Go look up "subitizing numbers."
Check it out:
Look at a triangle. Then look at a square. Then look at a pentagon. Then look at an octagon. Then look at a dodecagon. Etc, etc. What do you notice? As the number of sides increases, the shape of the polygon gets closer and closer to what our brains recognize as a "circle".
A circle is nothing more than a polygon with an infinite number of FLAT sides. (This is also known as an "apeirogon").
The same applies to regular polyhedrons. Anybody play Dungeons & Dragons as a kid? Roll a d4 and it pretty much stays where it lands. But roll a d20 too hard, and it'll bounce like a ball all the way across the table!
A sphere (including oblate spheroids!) is just a polyhedron with an infinite number of flat facets. _________________ "It's time you started treating people as individuals, rather than mathematically predictable members of an aggregate set, regardless of how well that works." |

I miss the good 'ol days when all that stuff was available at the check-out counter in the National Enquirer. Not on mainstream media like now. Back when we all went to school and we all learned the exact same lies, and movies all had happy endings, just like real life, and women and 'those people' knew their place, and if you let your arm dangle over the edge of the bed, the monster living under there would grab it and eat you. Then again, maybe we haven't progressed any farther down that line at the check-out. |

Nice try, but you're trying to divide a finite distance by an infinite number. Kind of like the "motionless" arrow in flight. |

Does it come with a garage and subsidization so I can work on my car? There might be something to this flat Earth thing. Hmmm? _________________ Making VW's and America great again. |

all numbers are infinite though. you can add decimal places into infinity, but your girlfriend is still only three feet away. the fact that you dont just fall right through the couch youre sitting on, is because of electromagnetism. youre not 'actually' touching anything ever. _________________ '88Doka JX td

This was explored in a recent NOVA episode “Zero to infinity.” |
