My parts book says:
003 325 391 for all carb engines
003 325 391A for Injection engines up to 71 MY (yellow mark)
003 325 391C for 72 and later Injection engines (brown mark)
I have successfully used a 003325391A in my stock 71 carbed engine by readjusting it by trial and error method until shiftpoints matched factory specs |

Pedro, I have spent considerable time scouring the internet for every 003 automatic manual that I could find. After digging through my collection, I found this.
I do not believe that there is any wiring specifics though. So if you would like it, PM your email address, and I will send it to you. Its a PDF file, and about 90 pages long. I wish there was a way to upload PDFs to the Samba, I fully believe in sharing info, but I just don't have the time to convert 90 pages to jpegs. |
Email me the PDF.
I post PDFs all the time
[email protected]
I use this site to explode the PDF into JPG pages:

It almost always works, |
Much Better thanks EverettB _________________ 68 T34 1600 Automatic

I have the Troubleshooting Guide, that yellow-covered thumb-book style reference. Is it already on the site? If not, I can scan it and upload it. |

No, it's for the Auto tranny, not FI.
Here is the front/back cover, and the index:
I have a PDF I can email you (about 2MB). Since the pages have cutouts on the right side to thumb through the topics, it is a little confusing as a full page PDF, but the tables make sense after a little while.
This one has a white/orange cover, as you can see, not yellow. I think I have a perfect-bound version that might have been yellow, but it's packed away for now. |

Everett has already put it up, thanks!:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/Auto_Trans_Troubleshooting.php
I suggest you print it single-sided, so you can see the index page as you scan for the correct troubleshooting chart. It originally worked with stepped cut-outs on the right side of the pages, but with a little trial, you will figure out how to find the correct table for each symptom.
It's pretty basic but may help some with basic troubles. |

Sounds like a cable adjustment- you're not quite all the way out of P when in R, e.g., parking pawl possibly not completely withdrawn. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Sorry I haven't been here for a while, but I had a serious dirt bike accident, and was bed ridden for about a week. The one thing that I want to add, on how to adjust the shift cable, is that when setting its position, you have to spin BOTH rear wheels in the same direction in order to get the park Pawl to engage into the slots. If you just spin one wheel, the spider gears, and ring and pinion in the differential section will not rotate the automatics internals correctly for the parking pawl to engage. I learned this the hard way. _________________ 69 road Bug 2110
