That would be a nice candidate for an AEL five cyl. TDI swap. _________________ Casey--

Still lots of fun stuff to do in Colorado Springs. Just be sure to tell everyone what a terrible place it is until you decide to move here. We're bursting at the seams. _________________ I've never met a Bus I didn't like.

Nice
Are you going to enlarge the wheel opening in the body to fit those 37's? |

It might be worth a trip down to Pike's just to see that thing in person! _________________ Joe T.

The plan!

I love how the plan includes (1) a mellow, stoic and satisfied driver, (2) a happily excited fun loving co-pilot with hair in the breeze, and (3) an even happier loyal canine!
I suppose the rig is ok too.

From another LT owner i would congratulat you on finding this rare LT 4x4 at a reasonable price.
Do you know what ski resort in Switserland it was at?
Do you have the 102hp 195nm Diesel engine with the code DV? From 88 to 92 VW also made a 109hp version of the DV engine with 109hp and 200nm but AFAIK only for the LT 28, 31 and 35e. If you ad an Intercooler you could without any problem increase the power to around 120hp. If you want to instal a more modern engine you wil get problems with the new engine runing at to high RPMs. In the spring i will instaal a 2,5TDI 5syl 116hp engine from a Audi A6 in my -87 Karmann LT. Replacing the 75hp NA engine. I wil end up runing the new engine at a little bit to high RPMs. Even if i change the rear axle i will only get the RPMs down with 15% and it is probably not enough.
Unfortunately i know wery little about the 4X4 LTs, but a lot about the 2wd ones.
Since the moderators moved this tread to the Vanagon forum i wil start a tread about my LT here. I think the trip reports woud be quite interesting for a lot of you, as wel as the about the engine conversion. _________________ 87 75hp VW LT 28 Karmann LT L, 90 T3 Syncro 75hp AAZ Reimo Camper. 00 T4 102hp TDI Caravelle bus. |

wow, that camper doesn't look that tall. That'll make it easy. Should be a bad rig. |
