Hi KG friends,
I just got back from Mexico yesterday. My original plan was to return in February, but unfortunately I catch Covid and needed to stay longer to recover. I am better but I still have a persistent cough.
Couple of weeks ago my old iPhone 6 died on me! Today I went to Verizon to get a replacement, and catch up on accumulated mails!
I just read an email from John Moxon mentioning the last postings.I am really sorry for the delay in pending orders, i will get the shop ready in the next few days and star making the orders right away!

Great to hear from you Luis. Not so great to hear you had a close encounter with Covid but the cough lasting longer than the infection is quite common so hopefully it will improve in time.
I'm sure we all wish you the best of health. _________________ John.

Granted it is only 2 months but i haven't heard peep and the fact that the ads are pulled has me concerned. |
Hopefully that means he has enough orders to start making a new batch of mats. I'll try to contact Luis to find out what's the state of play. |
Could be he simply didn’t renew it. If you don’t renew they just drop. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

So no more ads by Luis listed on Samba. i wonder if i am beat on the PayPal $456.56 i sent him back in Feb? I never was able to get a phone message to him or a returned email. Hoping this isn't the case. Anyone else have any mats outstanding with him or heard from him? |
I hope not!
I did get a promotional email from him last week. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Does anyone have any plans or at least where can I buy a kickback plate because I don’t have them.
I learn something new every day, this car is a legend. |
What is the "kickback" plate you are referring to? All I can think of is the kick panels below the back seat?? Or the foot rest plate?? |
I assume the plate with the pins that are welded to the bottom of the cross piece for the rear seat?
I need a pair two for my 70 or will just fabricate something. |
KGPR sells reproductions made out of "heavy duty molded plastic but they don't have the buttons for the rubber mats.

I searched a long time before I found these from a parts car. If you're not in hurry, you can find them.

Yes kick panels below the back seat with welded pins for rubber mats.
I need both panels and my is old shape, model may/1960 convertible, I think it is the same as lowlight 1959 |

Isn’t 1960 the only year the pieces keeping the mats in place are little slotted tabs? I believe every other besides 60 had circular pin tabs holding the mat in place. |
I will end up in a madhouse with these details, I will weld as many circular pins.

Thanks for answering the previous question.
But now I really don’t understand what my KG had the original rubber mats or not, the certificate doesn’t say, the floors are new with no pins welded and both are missing kick back. At the online store where I found the pins for the rubber mats they wrote it didn’t.
Who can help me?
I have a year may / 1960 convertible US specification |
All Ghias came with the pins.
Rubber mats were standard on the early cars, optional on later not sure when the switch was made. I’m thinking 72 but can’t say for sure. |
Good to know. i ran out in the garage this am before i left for work to see if i had the pins. So now i know the rest of the story! _________________ July 1959 Mango Standard Bus aka Obus L346 L347 https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=256592&highlight=
