So, some years ago, I remember seeing an old rusty beat-up sign being offered in a German eBay auction. It was from
the early 1940s era and was of the Der Deutsche Automobil Club (D.D.A.C.) which was an official organization under
the Nazi Regime of the time period. Eventually, there was actually a D.D.A.C. office located in the German Stadt
des KdF Wagens on Haupt Strasse 39 in the early 1940s. After some research, I was able to get an idea of what the
original sign may have looked like on the D.D.A.C. office building location in Stadt des KdF Wagens.
So, with my “back in time information,” I set out to remaster some old D.D.A.C artwork found using MS Visio Pro and
Corel PaintShop Pro for the custom decal set creation. I acquired a large, street size, metal sign (6 inch by 20 inch)
from a local craft store. The graphics image was cleared off the original sign and was then custom painted for an early
1940s era German, weathered, rustic look. After applying the decal set to the sign, I even added the paint brush
stroke rust look edges on the sign as well, for that authentic 1940s look !!
So, there you have it !!
BTW, the Nazi Der Deutsche Automobil Club (D.D.A.C.) organization, after the WWII period dissolved,
and became the current, well-known German ADAC Auto Club, as we know it today !!
