Hey Guys!
First of all, greeting from Poland.
I'm Marcin, I'm an owner of VW Beetle 1300 from 1973. Probably I'm 7th owner of it - all the previous owners added something from themselves into it, so now it is far away from original state Sad
I bought it without any knowledge about Beetles, but I think it was not a mistake. It was destiny! The last 3 years was a long journey of collecting knowledge about VWs, small fixes to have fun from driving my Beetle and saving money for parts Wink Now it's time for its restoration Smile

My Beetle was born on 23th February 1973 in the Kasan Red colour, with a leatherette black upholstery, lockable filler cap, rear mud flaps, lockable rear flap handle and heated rear window. The country destination was Poland, where it was bought for equivalent of 2040$.

When I bought it has 1200 engine, orange colour, 2-Fold and a lot of missing part. But it was driving Smile There are some pics when washed it Very Happy

Unfortunately there was some leaks in engine - it was loosing 0.5l oil per 100km Razz When I go to the mechanic, how knows those aircooled engines, he said that he didn't saw engine in so bad shape for a long time. So it ended up with new industrial engine, that works fine for the last year. During the past 3 years there was a lot of small fixes, but after them it is far away from nice condition. More and more rust can be found in its part, so there are needed to take some serious steps...

Now I decided to start full restoration. I found a mechanic that will handle most a of the metal work, including painting. The rest, like electrical wiring and upholstery, will be on me. Smile The work will start in the next two months. I would like to keep it in a climates of 70` after restoration, but for sure it won't be in the original shape..

Cheers!
