VW used bolts on wheel bearing caps that came with low profile heads, (probably same bolt elsewhere – 111-501-325). With the low profile comes the ease at which the heads are rounded off. I modified an extra 14mm socket by grinding the end of it flat so it has full engagement now. That last 1/16” or so makes a big diff on a shallow bolt head. Also, when you grind it, there is a burr left on the socket edge that makes for a nice tight fit. Here is a modified socket on the left, stock on the right.
