The trailer needed paint.
Everyone expected Purple.
Tows like a dream.
So easy to load and unload.
Added a winch in case I blow the engine again.

2019 was a good year for the bug. Got it appraised by a certified Hagerty appraiser. Bought insurance. Got it street licensed.
It is crazy fast. We've done some shows. Buzzed around Road Atlanta, and played at Daytona.
Everything is working as designed.
It was a ton of work, but that memory seems to vanish any time it breaks loose in third gear. |

We had really planned to do the big VW shows in Tennessee this summer.
Covid-19 sort of changed our plans.
Luckily we have been able to "tour" our little community to keep all the fluids circulating every few weeks.
Our little town did a "social distancing" show last saturday. Interesting concept, seemed to work safely.
Hope all are safe out there! |

Cool build. Glad to see another mid engine bug on here. You took a completely different route than me though! _________________ 1970 Bug Shell - the rest of it, well see for yourself...

Mid Engine Bug: I enjoyed reading about your build.
Yes, our direction was to be completely street legal. And, to please the air-cooled gods we thought it needed to be old skool air-cooled and German.
Originally we designed it for a 911-6. So the engine bay is large enough for a Subie. The original 911 engine got so valuable we couldn't justify it in the bug (Thank you Magnus Walker!)
Gotta admit i have some interest in the 200 HP electric motor conversion, except it is very pricey. Its the only thing I've seen that makes the Porsche parts looks less expensive. LOL
At this point the 200 hp Raby is scary enough with the car at 1500 lb. |

We were Covid safe and got to attend the Florida Bug Jam 2020 in Dade City Florida in November. Great weather.
It was a 3 day blast. Something like 750 beautiful vehicles on Sunday. I recommend it to all! Great event.
We've made a lot of small upgrades to the Outlaw Bug. It has proven to be a fun Sunday driver. But it is very hard to drive it legally.
