Does anyone know where to pick up a new fuel tank? ISP West is out of stock right now. Any other places anyone can think of?

No one makes new Type 3 fuel tanks. Try Boo Koo Z on here for a good used one.

Thanks for pointing that out! With that being said, I'm in Georgia... what does it take to recondition a tank? Are there places that do it?

Possibly a radiator shop could do it.

I have a couple if you need one. Both of my spares are out of 1964 model year cars.

Is there a trick to filling the early tanks up? Seems I get to about seven gallons and the pump doesn’t want to pump like the tank is full. I then have to almost dribble the remainder in to fill it up.

Hmmm, I’ll give that a look.

That was my thought too. You might want to look at the vent hose, as most are 1/2 inch (13mm) ID hose/line combination. Keep in mind that Mud Daubers like to close off tubing. Freeking bees. Mad

Thanks... that's where I think I'll be bringing mine! Do you recall how much yours cost you? Obviously, it's all about condition. Mine doesn't need any patch welding or anything.

Mine was really rusty at the base & needed many pinholes repaired. Cost was $200. Worth it to me as a ‘64 tank was not anywhere close.

The mouth on the filler is its own breather, its so dahmn big. You in California where you have those fume sucker hoses where you need to make a seal?

I'm not aware of any pinholes.. I think the tank is fairly solid (for a '67). They said it could be up to $350. I was just curious what the collective hive was paying in reality. Thanks again! Time to pull it and bring it in!

To know you have a clean, treated tank? I'd do it. Most tanks I've been seeing are boogered up for sure.

Yeah, I’m just south of you in San Diego.
Even if I pull the damn sucker hose back the gas can’t flow in fast enough without backing up on me. It’s not the end of the world, but is a bit annoying.

I have mine in a local radiator shop. They're going to dunk it a few times, coat the inside and paint the outside (Sims in Lawrenceville, GA). It wasn't EXTREMELY bad but definitely needed it! At the same time, I'm doing all of the fuel lines, fuel filter, strainer and all that. I also am going to swap out my steering coupler as the rubber is all cracked after 3 years! Sad

Any other work I should consider doing while the front is opened up? (aside from SimpleGreen cleaning everything down!)

Other work that's easier with the tank out:
Steering damper
Inner tie rods
Brake master cylinder
If your electric fuel pump is loud, mount it on rubber isolators:
