I need to replace the relay on both my 73 and my 74.
I removed the panel and can't get out the existing (bad) relay. It rotates but does not move. Anyone done it , if so please let me know.

I did manage to get the relay off the clip that held it to the bulkhead.
I see that the original relaty has no number 30 connector.
Anyone know what it is, and can I just go ahead and not use it.
Here is the wiring diagram info.

Hi Sam-
There are several different (yet similar in appearance) relays like this.
Some of them, with a Terminal 30 lug connected to (fused) battery +, will allow the high beams to flash when the headlights are switched off and the stalk is pulled.
Try yours wired this way before you button it up. This is a useful feature.
If your relay doesn't work this way, check to see if the Terminal 30 lug on your relay "goes live" under any operating condition. If it does, see that the Terminal 30 lug is insulated in some way to avoid contact with anything else behind that panel.
Good luck, Mondshine |
