hi dubbies,
trying to sort out the underside of a zwitter.
I found this weld above the right rear bumper bracket. both sides have similar welds. would these be original? or does it indicate the bumper brackets have been replaced for some reason? i.e., accident/rust
thanks so much for the insight!

Definitely a repair. The area behind the rear bumper bracket mounts are prone to rusting out. Dirt and debris get trapped in that area, hold moister and rust the panel. _________________ My Beetles :

The English translation for the German slang "zwitter" is "hermaphrodite," the "underside" of which I didn't want to visualize. |

banana, thanks so much for confirming what I thought was the case.
KTPhil, merely that "zwitter" catapults you to sexual twitter bespeaks your plethora of posts! glad I didn't mention fender to launch you on a mammary bender! but at least you are having fun! a little levity is important! bug on!
you dubbies are the bestest! |

"Zwitter" means "hybrid". It describes a state of simultaneously exhibiting opposing or differing properties. A non-sexual example: The zwitter ion. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"
