Loving this thread. I'm picking up a 65 this next weekend and it needs a TON of work. What's going on with your build? Been a while since you posted |

I have been in a slow place lately. I installed my gauges, and am awaiting my engine kit that I ordered form CB Performance. Ordered it the first week of November and it just shipped the end of last week. There will be lots of fun and things to do when that gets here. _________________ 1965 VW Sedan, 1968 C10 Step BB, 99 C5 |

Thanks for the engine teazer pics.
That case looks clearanced for larger P&C's. The CB heads appear to have larger valve too. Another clue pic of HP intent. Is the Kafer Bar setup.

Been working on my engine. Got the case together finally. Took four sets of bearings before I got a set with the correct clearances. Three sets of Silverlines were too tight. I finally bought a set of Mahle which worked.

Sweet!
A suggestion.
When using "Curil T." Apply it very thinly.
I use a child's watercolor paint brush.
Apply it too thick. And you squeeze the sealant out of the case halves.
What you see on the outside of the case is happening in the inside of the case.
Curil T remains rather fluid after application.
Keep up the progress. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I did that. I spread it as thinly as I possibly could while still seeing a hint of the green color on the aluminum. Since the case metal halves are supposed to go metal to metal, I don't see how you can be assured of complete coverage allowing for no leak path and have zero extrusion. _________________ 1965 VW Sedan, 1968 C10 Step BB, 99 C5 |

After having to tear it back apart completely once, and partially apart once more because of problems with parts I bought, i have finally gotten to the point where I have set up my valve geometry and measured for my pushrods. hope to be trial fitting tins and intake parts soon.

Getting closer to actually putting the engine in the car. I cleaned up the fire wall and engine bay. Think I am going to go with the cleaned fire wall as is, and put a couple layers of Dynamat in the inside of the car.

Well, I am back to working on the engine. Just about ready to install it. I want to run some shroud mounted hard fuel lines first.

Looks great, are those two holes to help hot air out of the engine compartment? |
