|
|
I have a 113905205AL distributor fitted to my 1300 AB twin port engine which seems to be the correct one, according to a chart which glutamodo posted in previous threads. Also it has a 461 vacuum canister connected to it, but unfortunately is not working.
Cannot find a similar 461 type locally, but managed to source a 2419 canister which possibly looks identical.
Would this work correctly with the 113905205AL distributor?
Thanks in advance for your precious help as usual. |

over priced from VW NOS. The canister from an 034 has a similar characteristics. Its also being reproduced but of lesser quality. _________________ Roads Scholar &

tasb, when you are saying vwnos is over priced do you have a cheaper sourse or is it that you suggest to use the 034 can or it's chinese clones?
The "AL" was used on both 1300dp and 1600dp in europe before it was replaced by the "034/"043" from factory. The later also being replacement (part) distributor for the "AL". The charistics and curve shoud be the same going by the VW books. However the "Bosch tune Up chart" here list the AL total advance (8-12) at 180 mm Hg, the VW book 200mm Hg same as 034. Which is correct?

It's supply and demand and he has one. If you have another source then buy the cheaper one.
Similar is not the same. The Chinese 034 has a similar curve so why not buy it?
If you want genuine Bosch GERMAN quality... Chinese is not the same.
BTW... the list price is not always the selling price. You can always offer what you think is fair and you never know. _________________ Glenn

While looks can be deceiving, in most cases the advance range of the SVDA canisters are similar @ 11-14 degrees at 180-200 mm.hg. You'll probably have to install it and test it out. The four digit canisters were used on 1980's and 90's distributors. _________________ Roads Scholar &

Glenn, your comments above fall into the no kidding category here. He claims to be a retailer and retailers generally don't have negotiable prices. I was simply letting hobbiest's know that there are less expensive options out there. _________________ Roads Scholar &

Tim,
As i said, supply and demand. He has one but there's not much of a demand, so if it's been sitting on the shelf for a year or two and he marked it up 100% he might be willing to let it go for somewhere between asking price and what he paid for it.
As my wife always says "if you don't ask, then the answer is NO".
