Thanks for the helpful tips (it's especially enlightening to discover the ignore list)!
I'm pretty game for as much DIY as possible, and agree that the work is a big part of the fun. I'm just a little concerned about finding a viable space to work in, but I'll keep poking around my new community here (recently relocated) and see what I can come up with.
Otherwise, please do keep the helpful advice and DIY experiences coming!

fwiw I painted the interior of my bus and other than lung disease it was a breeze. Looks great. Saved thousands but sure pay for it with lung issues even though I ran fans and wore the correct respirator. Really.
