Hey all, I'm looking for the official name, and part number for this interior trim piece on the sliding door. it covers the door 'catch' piece.
Thanks _________________ Eric

My 1969 Deluxe had them and my 1974 transporter had the holes for them. FWIW _________________ 1982 Vanagon Westy

They do a nice job of covering the catch latch, in case you don't want to yank and paint the part in a parking structure in Portland.

The early rear cover though… That one is rarer than a Westy Poo Pail……

I have it at my late "Bus L" (Luxury bus version) - there is also a counterpart at the rear 221 843 700 A
(I removed this because I used the extra Westfalia door handle in the rear to pull the door and close it quietly at night time )

Also the US Deluxe campers only based on the naked "Kombi" model with some added extra trim at the end - but are not based on the luxury bus models.

Was your bus M coded as a Westfalia?, or converted after delivery? I see alot of deluxe features in there. I'm not doubting, just curious as I've seen a few home market delivered stationwagons converted at Westfalia a few years after purchase. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I have one but it did not come with the bus. Picked it up at a Swap Meet (Stanford Hall).
Especially rare seen as it is a RHD Bus I have _________________ I only went to look at it!

We have two Riviera's and both of them have this cover.
I thought they were just standard - so I never gave them a thought before. I even purchased a new one about a month ago to replace the cracked one on my bus. _________________ '75 Riviera - 'BIG EMMA' (Pan American highway trip paused for a make over)

My 77 westy has the holes for this cover. I always thought that something was missing here. This cover makes the door look much more finished. It would be a cool thing to have. _________________ '67 13 Window

Early Deluxe had front and rear covers up to 1974 model year:
Later buses just used two little black caps over the rear hinge bolts:
Westys have a door handle bolted up at the rear hinge bolts:

So Westy's didn't have the cover in the front at all? _________________ Eric

Nope. VW made a pretty specific point out of "de-contenting" the buses before they headed over to the Westfaliawerks.
