I can not find any references to installing the CVs relative to each other when on the same axle (for example, bolt holes on one, when you shoot across the axle, line up to the bolt holes on the other, spreader washers opposite of each other, etc). I'm not sure I did anything like this with off-road rides, but I started to wonder. I assume it's a non-issue, correct?

Anyone actually know the make-up/spec for the moly grease packets you get with CV kits (in my case Febi/Bilstein)? Somewhere I read VW spec was 3% moly, but that was about it. Those little squeeze packets look like they only have enough grease to do the bare minimum (15 pieces of Flair). When doing off-road axles, it's a common practice to fill the flange cups and not be stingy when it comes to the boots. Here, it looks like I could use two packs of grease per axle. My thinking is I'd like to do that (using all the grease for one side) and use a grease gun cartridge on the other side. I have some 5% moly with graphite black stuff from my local farm store (for heavy equipment, etc) I've been holding onto for years (never the stones to use it in CVs, but I think it would be good). The farm store has other moly greases as well, so I could go with something else. I'd like to not get crazy like off-road CVs and start mixing Bel Ray and Swepco. Anyway, if anyone knows the basic spec, that would be great, okay? Thanks!!

Two Office Space references in a single post for the win!

Thanks. I'm hip to clocking. Different question. Thanks though.

It talks about the very first sentence you posted...

"The objective is to align a WIDE race wall on one CV with a NARROW race wall on the other CV." Ah ha! Thanks! What's funny is I now remember using a rod to set up the last pair of off-road 930 axles I did, which was some time ago.

Best I can figure out for grease. Febi 02582 (for VW/Audi) is Lithium based with Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2). Can't find an actual spec sheet. Not much help there, but there it is.

I had done the clocking when I rebuilt the axles, it was pretty straightforward.

I used Valvoline Full Synth Moly grease, I've always had great luck with it on several vehicles over many miles. I'm with you on not being stingy with the grease.

I also put a light coating of sealant around the cups and where the CV's bolted to the transmission flanges to keep the grease from seeping out and getting flung everywhere. So far that's worked well.
