I don't think there's problems with the nosecone mount, shifting is fine, even before i replaced the front shifter bushing. Not knowing the History of this thing, I figured it could have been collission damage, or someone might have been jumping it a little. haven't seen any major buckles or reakles in the horn mounts..

Thanks for the replys Cool

Howdie.. I agree about the possable collision damage, didn't check the condition of the trans. side mounts though, will have to.
What's the normal deck height compared to the engine tin??

Thanks

The engine tin on mine is almost an inch lower than the engine compartment but the seal easily seals it without adding anything. Looking at the ones for sale in the classifieds they look the same as what I am seeing here.

Sounds like the nose cone mount is damaged, Does it shift funny?

Are the two large bolts that are into the frame horns loose or non-existant? Are the three transaxle mounts in good condition? Are the bolts that hold the engine to the transaxle loose? Other than those few things being wrong it would have to be from collision damage.

Morning, I've got a 74 Thing i picked up and noticed when I did a tune up on it that the engine seems to be setting down a bit to the rear. I had trouble getting to the plugs because of this. I used some 1/2" foam to seal under the stock engine seal to take up the space. I don't remember the 67 bus I had haveing a problem with the air seals.
I'm hoping the horns aren't bent, trans mount bolts are tight. anyone have a suggestion. I plan on replacing the clutch here in the future, and was checking before getting out the tourch and welder.. I have a type 4 engine and trans. I've thought of throwing in, but haven't checked on the price of axles yet... Cool THANKS
