|
|
I am wanting to shore up my throttle tube where it goes through the fan shroud. I found them in the UK here
http://www.machine7.com/product.php?xProd=2805
But I am finding nothing at ACE Hardware, or Lowes etc. It seams that a Grommet with 8mm inside and 12mm outside should be simple to find, but not for me. Any ideas? I have checked all common VW vendors.

I bought a bunch of them through the VW dealer about 15 years ago. Might be worth a check. _________________ 53 Canadian standard oval

I got mine at ACE.
5/16ths by 9/16ths should work and be easy to find.
I just take a micrometer along and find the closest one. I first check the hole size in the shroud with the mic.
You can always drill the hole slightly larger to fit the one you find since the inner diameter is easy at 5/16ths.
5/16ths brake line with a flare on one end works good as a cable guide through the shroud. _________________

Pick up one of these or similar. I built my entire buggy with this kit, and on all but one occasion, (because the glass was too thick) I had what i needed. I did have to open a hole or two slightly along the way, for a perfect fit.
One of the best things i ever put in my garage.

I will head back to ace again today. When I was there last week, they had a horrible supply of rubber grommets. But I agree, this should be a no brainer Grommet to locate.

74 Thing
I purchased those already, my engine is super tight on the front Tin, and where the tube exits the fan side of the shroud. My issue is the Front side by the Carb, that rubber grommet is the one I need, like the link I shared. I went to Advanced Auto Parts today and got an assortment, and it looks like I found one, but the rain is so bad now in Florida I can't go test it.
Thank You. _________________ TP in the Pack (I am a cyclist)

I would use some silicone spray on it so the guide tube slides it |
