Hello all,

I am restoring a 63 convertible and having trouble finding the original color top. My car is polar blue with ice blue interior.

Does anyone have pictures of this combo and or where you can get the top and interior?

Also wondering if anyone is using this combo with a carpet other than grey? I was thinking about a green or blue

Where are you getting Ice Blue interior from? I don't think I've seen anyone making that.

Here are some carpet swatches.

I think you have to obtain carpet and dye it.

Yes you will need to find someone to dye the carpet and edge tape if you want a special non available colour; you won't find anything from suppliers. The interior combination in this photo, is Ice Blue vinyl with a specially dyed Turquoise houndstooth cloth insert. This is one of 2 Pacific Blue Ghia's we have made special interiors, for clients downunder.

My '63 is Pacific Blue but here's what a original blue green top looked like:

Here are original swatches of material - middle left is ice blue; lower right is blue green top material

I searched high and low for blue green top material (or something close with the right amount of blue vs green) and found nothing comparable. Finally went with black which I have to admit looks pretty nice.

Bought my top from Chuck Coli- fits like a glove.
Good luck with your project!

Here you'll also find pictures of the Karmann Ghia color and upholstery manual printed on September 1962:

The three color samples on the top row were available for Pacific Blue and Polar Blue Ghias:

-Ice Blue vinyl with Turquoise cloth (coupe)
-Ice Blue vinyl (coupe and cabriolet)
-Green (or blue-green) top for the cabriolets

But it seems that the black top was also an option for the Pacific Blue cabs:

Well, if this is to be believed:

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/62_63ghiacolors_various/page3.jpg

the black top was actually standard on the pacific and polar blue cabriolet's - the blue-green top was optional. Certainly going with a black top wouldn't be wrong.

And referring to the original question from bugginvw3 - the picture of Polar Blue cab color combos:

I also have an iceblue interior on my 63 ghia
some parts are still rather good other not
can't find the good vinyl here in Europe.
I'm thinking of buying white vinyl and painting it myself.
They can make a scan of an old existing piece of vinyl and make the paint.
First I'll have to find a piece of the old interior that is really close to original ,so not fainted by the sun and off course also not dirty....
Then I hope they can make the colour close to original.
I believe special paint for vinyl does exist.
If it doesn't work out it'll cost me a 100 euro but it's worth a try I guess.

About the carpet for this vintage Ghia: my 1962 Pacific Blue still has most of the original carpet. It is turquoise but is a smaller square weave than I’m used to seeing in 356 Porsches etc. Is there a supplier for the smaller square weave?
Thanks, Jeff

I know this is a few years old, but can you still source the ice blue vinyl? I'm looking for similar ice blue / turquoise seat covers and not having any luck.
