Still trying to figure out the grab-bag squareback i got here.
After looking in the classifieds I haven't seen seat bases that look like the ones I have here.
Is this correct for a 73? The seats are of course high back. But I was assuming i'd get that rear adjuster wheel like on damn near all vw seats.
Thanks! |

Those are for Late Model 1972 to 1973 Type 3 which has the 3 points system (two side rails & one center adjustment) |

Related question, how hard is it to swap bases? I kind of like the 'infinite' adjustability the wheel gives me. |

I would suggest some MK1 VW seats, they are a 3 point mount similar to these. The mounting on the rear 2 feet needs to be widened to fit the T3. That way you can buy seat covers from TMI in the same materials as the rest of your interior. The wifes 73 super has the seats out of an 82 scirocco in it _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/jim_martin_engine_build.php

Yup, those are 3 point late (72-73) seats. They don't get the "wheel of infinite adjust ability", as they use a lever to allow the seat to adjust the back rest setting. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

You'd need seat tracks from an earlier type 3, along with the entire seat assemblies for them. Then you have to weld in the seat tracks and replace your carpet. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

The wheel has (IIRC) 7 positions, so it's not really infinite. In fact, if it IS infinite, then the cams are worn out! People try to turn the crank without relieving the pressure on the seat back, and it was soft metal, so they wore out unless left on one position:

There were some new ones made:
