Did you make the vanagon chassis narrow enough? Those rear tyres look pretty close to the arches. Good work so far!

Honestly I am terrible at selling buses had no idea what to price it at, was just looking at my check out carts on Wolfsburg west and vancafe and wanted everything now. Trying to stay patient.

It is really close. Top part of the tread will sit inside the well but at it moves down the sidewall I'll run into trouble by about 3/8" I am hoping a different offset wheel will make up that difference. 🤞🏼

I've gotten the original to the bus fuel tank metal welded back in place. A bit more finish work will definitely be required but it fit quite nicely in my opinion and the rear deck lines up pretty nicely as well it will need some added metal around the vanagon wheel wells but nothing too serious once its actually in its place.

Got a package of goodies from WW and am starting to figure out how I want to do the floor, I believe I have decided to do it like my other bus and leave center section as a drop floor for tool/spare part storage as well as the location for my water tank.

None of this is welded yet, just contemplating. Also b pillar stuff happening.

B and C pillars are now solid, top hats and inner rockers are installed as well as outer rocker on passenger side. Doesn’t look like much has happened but it took all damn week and I am really happy with how the jack ports lined up and if you have a few strong beers before looking hard at this bus you just may miss the fact that I have hacked the hacking hack out of it.

Also removed a donor section from the bay and began massaging it into place. Hopefully all welding will be complete mid February.

Just a little progress, the snow has been too good to resist in the mountains lately but I’ll get back to this bus in short order.

Thank you.
There is a guy, I believe in Germany? Building a crew cab split syncro right now.
I go out to the garage after work and the thought of welding and grinding after working in the heat all day is not really appealing to me. I hope to hit it hard in the fall again. Here’s a few little things I’ve managed to accomplish though.

Fixing b pillar and attaching vanagon seat pedestal to pillar

I think I’ve got the front floor mocked up to where I’ll be happy with it.
Need to finish the frame and chassis support to the a pillar and then I can weld the floor.

That's going to be one stout beast. Is the distance from the floor to the bottom driving seat the same as regular? Is that a cat in the lower right photo above? If so, more cat pics.

Seat will line up nicely. Once the swivels go on it will be just right.
