I had the same issue as the OP. I bought all new seals from WW with the aluminum trim. The first window I tried, the left Rear, the seal was too big and would not fit onto the glass. These were bought about two years before installation so returns were not possible. I ended up using the seals I took out, as they were only 8 years old and minus the metal trim. It was the rubber that was too big. The problem wasn't with the metal trim. I still have the whole set of WW stuff NIB. _________________ 1978 Transporter 2.0 FI, BA6

Sent my WW deluxe rear side seals back soon after two different shops trying to install my rearward glass complained they were too big and fat. Lost out on shipping both ways. Weeks latter one shop did get one glass in using WCM. The other side did not go in using an NOS German deluxe seal because the metal fab was off at least an 1/8". I'm going to chalk the issue up to metal work since the struggle using the WCM was heroic. But now that I've seen the process, WCM is your better bet. Would continue using WW for windshields, although not my first choice given I've got OG seals stashed. I've heard from reputable sources that deluxe seals can be the worst no matter so buyer beware. _________________ When you cross an Irishman, they never forget. I mean, never. |
