Original 12v ambulance fan knob color. Black or white?

I am restoring a set of original 12 ambulance fans for customer. The questions is with 1967 switching over to black knobs on the dash what color would the ambulance fan knob be?

Does the traditional hold true?
-Passenger bus = white knob
-Commercial bus = black

Fan set is original 12V and has an original style white knob but someone has messed with the switch since parts are missing so i am not certain.

Did vw ever use a black ambulance fan knob?

I think all the black knobs come from unimogs or other German cars. I’ve had a number of commercial color fans and the knobs are always white - can’t imagine ‘67 would be any different.

Yes, I thought they were always swapped out by people.

My NOS set of Ambulance fans that are still boxed, has a switch in the plastic bag, and also in the box there is a black knob that could be switched out I guess so maybe in the original sets as spare parts from the factory has the both knob options of Black and Ivory, the knob is not shown in this pic but I can get one.

Here's a pic of my boxed NOS Ambulance fans, it shows two different coloured knobs, the knob on the switch is Ivory and the Black one is in the paper bag along with the fuse holder and wiring, given this setup is complete and still all in the NOS box I am guessing they originally came from the dealer as a SP kit via the spare parts network with the two knob options and maybe never changed out on install??
Ive never seen another NOS set to compare with though.

So the fuse would end up under the dash.
